I have a g3ibook with one of the power adapters that light up. It goes from amber to green. What do the colors mean? When i jiggle the plug in the Ibook it changes colors from amber to green and so forth.

the amber color means its charging and when its green its means charged and using outlet power

I switched on my laptop (a 3 year old, much used Ibook G4) to find that a thin, black, slightly broken line had appeared horizontally on my screen. It remains after restart. I’d just carried my Laptop home but hadn’t noticed knocking it.

A google search suggested a PRAM/NVRAM reset, but this sounds a bit scary! Any ideas what has happened and if/how I can fix it?

There is nothing wrong with the graphics and the google search you have conducted is incorrect. NVRAM is the graphics RAM, which is fine. You need to replace the LCD panel, one of the connecting wires has snapped.

So what the highest possible upgrade?

You can upgrade it to Mac OS10.4 Tiger, if you first upgrade to Mac OS 9.2, and upgrade the memory.

It would be considered to be an old computer that was orginally designed for schools and education.

It was first introduced in April 2002 and ended in April 2004.

Its now considered to be very slow. It will run Leopard – slowly.

I have a Nokia, and have plugged in the USB to the computer and phone. Data storage I can’t click on, but which do I select out of Printing and Media or Nokia Mode? Either one I click on nothing comes up on the computer.

i want to get my first mac and i love the Powermac g4 quicksilver. That is all I can buy at the moment so I want to know if I can put the latest version of mac os x. If someone can give me a answer I would love that.

The Apple PowerMac G4 Quicksilver, DOES support the latest OS,(Leopard 10.5).

Just make sure your G4 meets these requirements:

~PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
~ 512MB of memory
~DVD drive for installation
~9GB of available disk space

My friend just gave me their old logitech quickcam camera and i installed the software but its not registering on my Powerbook G4. Like ill try to start iChat or open even QuickCapture and it says i dont have a camera hooked up….and it is plugged in (i checked lol) Do u know how i can fix this? i dont speak geek speak..

I’m not too clued up on computers but is it worth getting a new hard drive or more ram or whatever, or would buying a new computer be cheaper? It’s not my main computer but i’ll be taking my new MacBook away to uni so my mum needs one, but the Powerbook is just useless at the moment!

It is possible for you to upgrade your operating system to make it a little faster.

If this doesn’t work then you could try looking for a cheap Laptop on ebay or mabye amazon, but i would advise you to buy it new.

I want to know how many Laptops are allowed per head when we are travelling from US to India. I have to carry two laptops with me. So can some one tell me, if it is allowed to carry more than one laptop? I doubt if the US customs or India customs will object if I carry two. If it is not allowed, can you suggest me how I can bring those two laptops to India? Thanks in advance.

as many as you can carry. You have a weight allowance and it is up to you to use it, the airlines don’t care what you have as long as it meets the regulations

My last business trip I carried my laptop, an LCD projector, a 2 way radio, and my mobile phone. The only one who cared how much electronic junk I was carrying was security when they wanted to test for bomb residue (Irish Terrorist) and if my Laptop works. One of my colleagues regularly travels with at least 2 laptops and sometimes 3 domestically and has never had a problem except for paying for extra baggage (the boss hates when we do that). For my two cents worth Indian customs may have a problem with it BUT most likely they won’t .
