is the eMac considered a good computer?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

well, i’ve got an eMac with a 1.42 ghz gg4, 1.00 gb of RAM, 64mb of dedicated video RAM. is it a good computer

It would be considered to be an old computer that was orginally designed for schools and education.

It was first introduced in April 2002 and ended in April 2004.

Its now considered to be very slow. It will run Leopard – slowly.

How do I know what year my emac is?

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

I just got a free emac and it dose not have a hard drive, memory or disk drive. I work at best buy and all of that is very cheep for me so I want to fix this computer for something to play with. I need to know what memory it takes and how big of a hard drive I can put on it. Plus is there any recommendations for the OS? And what is the potential of this computer?(What is the best rout for fixing it?)

In a post you wrote "The speaker will move in if it is backwards."

This is actually false. It will move but in the opposite direction of the other CORRECTLY wired speakers.

how can i make my emac wireless internet?

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

i have a 2wire, modem for my other computers. is there a card i need to install? one is a dell hooked up hard with wire, and i have two Laptops that will run off my wireless modenm one a pc the other a mac. i’m not sure what i need to get the emac hooked up? it’s in the game room a long way to run a cable. thanks lj.

Depending on the version you have. If you have the newer versions, newer then 2003, then you should have 3 USB ports. Purchase a USB Wi-Fi adapter that supports the MAC OS and that should do it.

How much faster would my eMac be with an extra 512mb of ram?

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

I have an eMac (700mhz) with 256mb ram running mac OS X Tiger. I am thinking of purchasing an additional 512mb of ram so it would have a total of 768mb of ram. I am wondering how much of a difference, if any, this upgrade will make to the performance of my computer. Thanks for any help.

well if u do that u need a new processer that has more mhz which will turn it to gigaherz and a new display driver etc etc that can support these so it would be alot of money but be alot faster BUT NOT WORTH IT, only upgrade if u have windows macs dont particularly need it

How do I make my emac work more efficiently?

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

I’ve had my Emac (macintosh 10.4.11) for about 4 years now. I’ve updated my software (in the update software option under the apple) and deleted some old things I didn’t need, like music and documents and pictures. But I want to make it work even better, as I need this computer to last at least 2 and a half more years.
Oh and if there’s a cheap way to do it, please emphasize that cause I am,bluntly, poor.
Thanks!

Get main menu and run maintenance scripts every month or so…

Basically, just treat it like a baby. I’m using an iMac 10.4.11, have been for two years now, I do tons of graphic design, video editing, parallels, documents, video, music, blah blah EVERYTHING on it, and it shows no signs of slowing down…but I treat it like a baby. Keep it up to date, run maintenance scripts, clear internet caches/history/cookies, etc. every now and then… And it wouldn’t hurt to have some antivirus (not necessary, but it definately doesn’t hurt, and it does especially good if your mac is networked with PC’s)…

How do I find out if my eMac and MacBook is daylight savings time ready?

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Both computers in the in ‘Time Date’ window hav a check mark in the section to set date and time automatically. I’m worried my older 2004 eMac OS X version 10.3.9 is not ready for the new date for daylight savings time.
