I have an old imac graphite and emac both running os X.3. Ive had a network running before with my previous emac, but my brother set it up, he’s left home now and im not sure what exactly to do. If it helps I have a speedtouch dsl modem. and the computers are connected by eithernet cables. ive tried different things on system preferences but to no real success. Basically I want to share internet and also access files from the other computer. Is there anyone out there that can help me???????

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH

How to set up a network between two Mac computers??
Need help setting up a wireless network on Windows 7 to connect Apple computers and a Windows XP computer.?

Thank you in advance for helping me.

I need help setting up a wireless network for my home. I want all of our computers to be able to see each other and be able to transfer files between them. Is that possible?

Computer Information:
The desktop I will be using is connected to the router directly. So that can be the hub if I need one. It is almost always on. It is a Windows 7 computer.

My family has two mac book pros and I want them connected as well.
And there is one Laptop windows XP that I would like to connect.

Also one printer but one I have a network, I think I know how to do that.

Thanks!

If I understand you, (it sounds like you are confusing router with modem?) you have the Windows 7 machine tied to the modem and you want the other computers to tie to the modem through the Windows 7 machine? It can be done, but requires a lot of work.

The easiest way is to buy a wireless router (base station) and then connect it to the modem. (via the same cable now being used to connect the Windows 7 machine to the router, as it won’t be needed to connect any computers to the wireless router. All computers will connect wirelessly.)

Now all wireless devices can have independent connection to the modem and the router will allow a network between all machines. File sharing will work, although only data files can be shared between the Macs and Windows machines. (no applications can be shared, only data such as text documents, pictures, music, video, etc.)

All will be able to access the printer as well. If it is wireless, it will become just another machine in the network, or it can be hard wired via ethernet or USB to the router. (Most routers have an ethernet and/or USB port for connecting a printer or a wired ethernet network of non wireless computers.)

My own home network has several ethernet hubs that tie my printer and non wireless computers together and an ethernet cable from a hub to the wireless router. The wireless router allows the cabled computers and printer to be on the same network as the wireless computers and also connects by a cable to the cable modem to give every computer in the network internet access. My network contains 4 wireless Macs, 2 cabled PCs (The PCs are there only because they were given to me and I use them to troubleshoot PC problems for people!) a color laser printer and 18 cabled Macs. (My home also contains my recording studio and business office.)

Depending on the version you have. If you have the newer versions, newer then 2003, then you should have 3 USB ports. Purchase a USB Wi-Fi adapter that supports the MAC OS and that should do it.

how can i make my emac wireless internet?
How can I make an old computer wireless?

I have an old G3 EMac, and a wireless signal. Is there an inexpensive way to get the internet wirelessly like my new Mac does?

maybe a usb wireless adapter … if it has usb heh ..

well if u do that u need a new processer that has more mhz which will turn it to gigaherz and a new display driver etc etc that can support these so it would be alot of money but be alot faster BUT NOT WORTH IT, only upgrade if u have windows macs dont particularly need it

Oh and if there’s a cheap way to do it, please emphasize that cause I am,bluntly, poor.
Thanks!

Get main menu and run maintenance scripts every month or so…

Basically, just treat it like a baby. I’m using an iMac 10.4.11, have been for two years now, I do tons of graphic design, video editing, parallels, documents, video, music, blah blah EVERYTHING on it, and it shows no signs of slowing down…but I treat it like a baby. Keep it up to date, run maintenance scripts, clear internet caches/history/cookies, etc. every now and then… And it wouldn’t hurt to have some antivirus (not necessary, but it definately doesn’t hurt, and it does especially good if your mac is networked with PC’s)…

I have currently 3 Windows computers that are wireless, through a Linksys wireless-G Router and i was wondering if i could get my eMac connected wirelessly to the internet, and what to buy? Do i just need to buy a certain wireless card for the eMac?

yes, you only need an internal or external wireless card or divice

What do I need to get to get my eMac wireless internet?
How do you set up wireless internet on an eMac with OS X 10.2.6?

Ok, so i know its a little dated but i have a perfectly fine eMac computer. i want to set up the internet but i just cant figure it out. i am not so computer savvy so im completely lost when it comes to acronyms such as, TCP/IP and PPPoE. i poked around the internet looking for and answer and i thought i got my answer when i read that you need an “airport extreme card;’ however, upon further reading i realized i need OSX 10.7 or greater. Damn! SO…my questions are, what do these acronyms mean, if i need an “airport extreme card” is there one compatible with OSX10.2.6, and how do i set up wireless internet on my eMac? Thanks!

Your eMac did not come with a wireless internet adapter, the Airport Card (or Airport Extreme card, depending on the age of your eMac) is a wireless adapter that fits into the eMac, but the card is really not available for purchase anymore.

You may need to look for an external USB wireless interface adapter that is compatible with OSX 10.2.6

My eMac computer wont start up?
eMAC help!!!!?

I bought an older emac from a school and it had OS 9 on it and they said i should be able to put OS X on it and they gave me the cd installer.. my friend bought an eMAC from the same school and he had no problem installing OS X but i put in the disc, clicked install, and it restarted, saying it would install while restarting… now it wont start up at all! when the computer restarts it just kinda freezes and some text pops up in the upper right corner of the window which says: “sh-2.05a#” . i dont know what to do i have the OS X install disc and eMAC software install and restore disc and i have put both in the computer and held down “C” like it says and it still wont start!! what do i do? …. i also have a cd that says “Apple Hardware Test”

Use the installer cd and the hardware test and hold c immediately you switch it on.If it doesn’t work send it back because the “sh-2.05a#” is an error. If anything about mac contact me on micro_zipper@yahoo.co.uk
