Will upgrading the memory on an Ibook G4 speed it up?

I have an iBook g4 with 256 mb of memory. Will upgrading it to 512 increase the speed of my iBook?

To tell you the truth, more memory doesn’t make a comp faster – it just makes it better at doing more stuff at once. So if you just want to speed up games or internet browsing, it wont help. But if you want to run multiple programs or something like Photoshop, which does a LOT of things at the same time, then yes, memory would be great. My advice though would just be to upgrade the Laptop.

Snow Leopard will only run on Intel chip Macs. Your iBook is a PPC Chip Mac. Leopard is as high as you can go.

Snow Leopard doesn’t offer any new features over Leopard, just a revamped OS the runs better on the Intel machines.

A big Magnet damaged the hard drive and you will not be able to use it again,best way is to format it ,if you want to be safe format it few times,then reinstall new OS on it,some people go further and format it in windows format too like NTFS ,BUT believe me once or twice format makes all your hard drive to be clean ,even if you format it once take at least 100 hours and special software and also lots of money to retract anything from your hard drive…

and even if you were able to install it – it would run really slow. CS4 are really intensive programs that require a lot of computing power.

A word of advice: if in the future you want to buy another computer, always make sure that the system specifications of the computer a better/greater than the system requirements of the software that you want to run on it.

Try flipping the key top off with a flat edge and check for crumbs or other debris under it. Key tops just push back on.

A service manual will give you the G4 spec and, touch wood, the owners manual for the G5 will tell you what it will take.

The G5 has an extra slot for a second hard disk and the Ibook G4 is just about full so i hope to put in a new and bigger one in. If you have any links to sites that may have specialist info that would be helpful.

Every chance that the answer will be yes but the best idea would be to find out exactly what hard drive you have in the G4 & what the G5 will accept.
