Whenever I seem to get on my laptop, about ten minutes later, my laptop begins to overheat, and it freezes. I’ve had my laptop for about three years and I’ve never had this problem before. I also rarely use my laptop on soft surfaces such as the bed and the floor; it’s primarily on my desk. What are some possible causes of this occurrence? Is it just possibly dust in the fan?
Answerer #1 & #2 are both correct in that it is probably fan related – you might just need a good cleaning. In addition the newer high power processors generate a lot of heat. Even new my HP 17" pavilion put out an astonishing amount of heat although I don’t remember having any particular performance issues because of that. I finally bought an in-expensive stand (wire mesh, adjustable tilt) and the heat issue simply dissipated (sorry
.
The raising of the computer, the ability to tilt (I use it on it’s lowest tilt), and the use of a gel pad for the heel of my hands has contributed greatly to my comfort in using my laptop.
My laptop computer is overheating and freezing in the process?
Is My Computer Freezing From Reinstalling XP Or Overheating?
I recently wiped laptop computer and reinstalled Windows XP, and now it keeps freezing … The mouse still moves, but I can’t click anything or even use the keyboard to navigate. Sometimes the system will kick back in and start working again, but usually I just get annoyed and do a hard restart.
There is also another factor. I live in a rather cramped apartment which is very warm during the summer so overheating may also be an issue. I try not to use it during the hot points of the day and I purchased a laptop cooling fan which is doing little more than mocking me as a waste of $35.
To sum it all up, I’m not sure if perhaps something when wrong with the reinstallation process or if my computer is simply over heating.
Is there a mini-ac unit made for Laptops out there somewhere?
Dose anyone have a clue about possible reinstallation of windows issues?
Help Please. I miss my computer.
Its not the drivers. Hp included them in a disc which I reinstalled.
Honestly, this doesn’t sound like a heat issue. After you reinstalled XP, did you do any windows updates or driver updates? My guess is a video driver is at fault. Try going to the laptop manufacturers site and download any updates for drivers.
