What will I need to update my powerbook G4?

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Ok so I want to update my PowerBook g4 up to leopard I was wondering what will I need?

You shouldn’t really NEED anything, but it would be of benefit to upgrade at least your RAM. It’s super cheap these days. Max out your RAM for a faster and smoother experience.

You can find a good guide to Mac RAM here – http://guides.macrumors.com/Buying_RAM

What will I need to update my Powerbook G4?
powerbook g4 update now programs will not show up?

im running tiger 10.4 osx on my g4 Powerbook and I downloaded a update the other day now my msn or my yim or safari will not open anymore as if they vanished and every time I click on one of them the icon just bounces but does not come up any help please do I need to reformat or what do i need to do?

Hello marolt4,

You have been backing-up your hard drive, right? Just boot up your Mac from the external hard drive or using your back-up software and load the back-up stuff back into your PowerBook.

Normally what I do when I upgrade the OS, is I download the “combo update” directly from the Apple web site, not the regular update. I don’t download the OS upgrade using your Mac’s Software Update program so I can back-up the updates separately. Go here:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

Be sure that you’re downloading the update for the proper hardware (PPC) too. I hope that this helps. Best of luck to you.

How can I remove a dent on a Powerbook g4?

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

I found a dent dent on my new 17 inch powerbook g4. It is not very deep but covers a large part of the computer. It is under the apple on the front of the computer. Is there any way to remove this dent?

This ranges from very difficult to nearly impossible. It would involve taking your laptop to bits which would violate the warranty. You’ll need to somehow get to the dent and push it out (like done on a car with a small dent). I’d forget it, you’re more likely to break it by taking it apart.
