It is possible for you to upgrade your operating system to make it a little faster.

If this doesn’t work then you could try looking for a cheap Laptop on ebay or mabye amazon, but i would advise you to buy it new.

Any ideas?
I don’t have an eject button…help.

According to the Apple boot keys list, you should be able to press and hold F12 to eject the disc before boot (press power and immediately press and hold F12 until the disc pops out).
If that doesn’t work then turn he computer off and back on, right after the startup sound press and hold Command-O-F. After the "Welcome to Open Firmware" screen at the prompt type "eject cd" and press return. After the disc ejects type "mac-boot" and press return. Boot will continue.

No instructions came with the camera.

I would suggest looking for instructions for your camera online as that will determine what you can and cannot do. Secondly, the DVD drive will be good for creating archives of video, but the hard drive is where the video would be stored. Any questions regarding the Laptop and camera depend on their models, which we need to help further.

I need a used laptop specifically for music and music production. All I will really be using on it is Garageband and Itunes and the internet, so I don’t think it is necessary to buy a new macbook. I play guitar am and in a band, and I am looking at used computers in the 350-550 dollar range. If anyone does not think that the powerbook is effecient, please reccomend another, and it would be convienent if it were affordable.

It is over-efficient. You can easily support garageband with a lower-end mac, millions of people have. Plus Powerbooks are absurdly priced. You’ll have about 4x the necessary processor speed, 8x the necessary ram, etc

If you’ve got the dough, no reason to say no.

Here’s my new PowerBook! Even though I love my little G4, it needs to shape up in the power department! My battery goes wakko (Animaniac geeks will laugh at that) all the time and the power adapter rarely charges the computer. So I’m probably going to be taking my little G4 in to my Apple Authorized Reseller or whatever they are called these days and have them take a look at it and see if a new battery/adapter is in charge. I wish my little PowerBook didn’t have these problems! GAH! Plus all technology hates me today, but that video is still in the editing portion so you should see it soon…

Anyway, hope you enjoy!

My internal wireless on my powerbook G4 1.5ghz 15inch has finally died. Everything else works. Is it possible to buy a card to use in the pc slot or usb? Does the original wifi have to be disabled for that to work? Whats a good replacement? Thanks

I would check with AppleCare to see if you can just install a new Airport Card in it. On alot of them you can. If it is the old Airport cards than you would have to buy one online or something and install it.

Apple.com should have that for you.
1-800-275-2273 is their #

     discussions.apple.com
would be an excellant place for this question, not that this isn’t good, but there are alot of experts and mac users there. You can post your question if you create an apple id or have one, or you can search by finding your computer on the hardware list or airport list and then looking for results.

But you should also be able to get an external adaptor for it. It would be USB if so.

How can I fix my wifi on my Powerbook G4?
Apple PowerBook G4 needs repair ..?

My friend is giving me a Apple Powerbook G4 with WiFi, she bought it in 2004. The only problem is that it had a problem in the past she said and she got it fixed, problem was with the motherboard, and she said about a month later it stopped working and its doing the same thing so she took the insurance money from it breaking and bought her a Mac Book Pro. Anyways, the PowerBook G4 will not turn on and she said she believes its the same problem with the motherboard. How much do you think it will cost to get fixed or should I just buy another PowerBook G4 (I looked up and I believe they are like between $300 – $700). I really want to get it fixed or just own a Mac because I want to become a DJ and I’ve noticed that most DJs have Macs. I’ve always owned a PC.

Can anyone tell me what to do to fix it or at least an estimate or should I just buy a new one Powerbook G4?

You need to find an Apple certified technician. Look for a place that sells Apple computers in your area. They would have the best insight into whether or not they can still get a mainboard that old. They can then quote you the cost. I would figure an hour of service (so $100) plus cost of the board (don’t know how much laptop boards are honestly).

I would try to get a newer Laptop. Look for the last generation MacBook or MacBook Pros that are being liquidated. Now that the aluminum ones are out all the old ones are being ditched for good prices. I would check out Amazon, the Apple Store in the Refurbished section, and even your local retailers (see if any of them are dumping the stock for cheap).
