? get a wired / wireless NAT Security router

? the internet plugs into one specific plug on the router
? your main PC uses a wired port with ethernet cable
? your Laptop can use either the WiFi or a wired port also

? The router assigns the IP Addresses to the computers and acts as the internet gateway

? this way your machines can be simultaneously connected and are hidden behind the router sharing the AOL IP Address
References :
It wont cost anything extra, but you have to know the code to let it install , if it is set up as a secure network. If it isnt secure, it will just install itself, when you choose the network that is in your home. The code , if it hasnt been changed will be the 13 digit number on the bottom of your wireless transmitter.
Your isp may have a limit as to how many computers you can use simultaniously, tho.
References :
VERY,VERY,VERY simple.
No cost.

Turn on the wifi(button on laptop)(usually leave it on),
search for networks,
find your network,
type in the password(if you have one)
connect!

Once you have done your laptop will automaticly connect when the network is in range, with you wifi on of course.
References :
It's extremely easy. Just turn the laptop on and use whatever network manager you like (Windows Explorer is fine, if you use Windows) to connect to your wifi network and you're done.

EDIT: And no, it's not going to cost anything additional. If your ISP tells you that it will, they're just being deceptive. There's no way for them to know that you have a home network anyway, so even if it does violate TOS -- which I seriously doubt -- they won't find out.
References :
Yes. It's definitely safe. I do it all the time. It's also more convenient than dragging around yet another charger while you're travelling.
References :
yes, I think it is. But be sure that your laptop is really dual voltage, as otherwise the European 220-240V will fry your American 110V power supply.
References :
Perform regular computer scans to remove virus and other things which can slow down the system's performance. Also, try a program which can speed up internet speed like this one: http://huwatisdis.blogspot.com/2009/06/free-internet-speed-booster.html
References :
blog search

Three things are involved in how fast you can download any thing from the internet.
1) The input/output speed of your modem.
2) The input/output speed of the websites modem
3) How many people have logged on to the website and are trying to download something at the same time.

I have a 3.6 Mbps modem most of the time if will only download at 56 Kbps, sometimes faster and sometimes slower. It took 2 hours to download the BBC Iplayer.
References :
The configuration of your laptop is not the reason for your slow internet speed. By reliance wireless broad band if you mean a reliance data card and if you have an old model dont compare them with the current model cards. Old models connect at 200+ Kbps and give an average throughput of not more than 70 Kbps.

But current generation Datacards are capable of 3 Mbps. If you find a solution in this then change your datacard.

If you don't find a solution, try installing a Internet Speed meter like Dumeter on your laptop which can be downloaded from www.download.com. This would show your realtime internet utilization.

You should also keep your operating system up-to-date and install a good antivirus and anti-spyware to get good speeds. If you have spyware in your system they might be killing your internet speed. You can refer to my blog www.sunilsaripalli.com for more ways to speed your internet connection.
References :
http://www.sunilsaripalli.com

i haven't figured what was the problem with mine but now i use another network which works much much better.
