Is it hard to start growing a rose bush from a seed?

I want a certain rose bush and found a place where I can order the seeds. But, I am not real sure how easy it is to get it growing. Has anyone tried it this way? If so what were your results? Thank you so much for your help.

Roses aren’t too difficult to grow from seeds; I have one grown from seed right now. However, I don’t know what it will look like when it blooms. I have the mother plant but the pollen could have came from one of my plants, a neighbors’ plant or even from a long distance away. From the seedling it appears it will be a climbing rose. There are two other climbing roses in the neighborhood; 1 at my neighbors fence and 1 at an older house about a block away. My seedling had a bud appear just before Thanksgiving I had hoped to see open but, looking at it last week, the bud has died. I also have a dozen seeds planted in a pot, waiting for spring to sprout. I have about 30 more seeds I will plant in April as well. Maybe from these I can get at least 1 rose worthy of being continued and offered to family and friends. Until they grow and bloom I just don’t know what I have. That’s the only drawback with rose seeds; they may or may not be what I want them to be. Since the ones you have are sold as a specific variety they should grow true. If not, the seller has duped you and sold you something you didn’t want.
