Hey I have a G4 Laptop and a G3 iMac, is there anyway I could hook them up so they use their processing power together. I know there are dual core comps now and I saw a story about a super computer being made by joining up loads of computers, so is it possible to hook mine up to get a little more out of my money?

nah

i dont think so

if u manage to do that please tell me

How do I connect to old computers to make a new fast computer?
How do I make my internet start working again on my hp laptop?

I have no more internet! It says that its connected to my home computer and it says it gets internet but when i go on the internet it says “page could not be found”. i try google, youtube, facebook, watever nd it doesn’t work with anything! it says the same thing! I have been having trouble with it since i installed smart engine thinking it would protect me against viruses. (i did this because it said it was free and my norton securtity expired at the time and i didn’t have money to buy a new one). i hate how i can’t go on the internet to do my school work or look up something FAST unlike my home computer which is old nd slow >:P its a window vista btw.
It is connected to the right network and everything but I can’t uninstall smart engine because it’s not showing up on the program list to delete stuff :( I tried to force it to uninstall but that didn’t work either…do u have any more ideas?

Step Zero: Check if you’re connected to the correct network.

First step: uninstall Smart Engine.

Second Step: If removing smart engine doesn’t fix you up, check that you’re connected to the correct wireless network again.

If you’re still having problems, get back to this post and let us know.

No. You can’t do that. Dual cores are still one processor with two "brains" inside.

Super computers have almost entirely different achitecture than regular home computers.

    I’m glad I revisisted.

What mary M suggested is NOT going to work. That is how you SHARE FILES.

I read an article too, awhile back, about hooking slower CPUs together to boost processing speed. You do it using a crossover cable from one machine to the other. This means that in the primary use machine, you will need two network cards, one to hook into the other machine with the crossover cable, and one to hook your computer to the Internet. (If you add more computers to the chain, each time you add one, you’ll need an extra network card, because a crossover cable will have to run from one to the next.)

As I understand it (if I remember the article correctly), each processor added in such a chain contributes about 50% of its power to the primary use computer. I don’t remember if the article explained how the processing power is shared through networking the computers together, or if it just happens as a result of the computers being networked. Give it a try — a network card and a crossover cable won’t be that much out of pocket, but you might need to do some research on the software configuration.
