I am a college student and I’m looking for a laptop for the upcoming school year. I would like the laptop to have a built in webcam and microphone, decent amount of memory, not too heavy so I can carry it around, and wide screen. My price range is 600-1200. What is the best Laptop for me to get?

Ur best option is a Dell Studio 15 it has sufficient space and superb performance and decent looks and good battery backup.Better take one with Vista..
Or u could also take a look at Sony Vaio, there a many options to choose from in Vaio.
if u like the Mac OS go for Apple.

I would personally say the 13" MacBook or Macbook Pro, depending on how much you want to spend, they both have a minimum of 2GB of memory, 160GB hard drives, they weigh like 3 kilograms/ 5 pounds, and it has a 1280×800 widescreen, built in webcam and microphone. If you’re a college student, you can get a ten percent discount and a free iPod touch if you buy before the start of september as well!

It works very well, and it doesnt cost alot. It also has a really good graphics and sound card. It also runs light games.
