Powermac G4 Upgrade

I recently acquired a Powermac G4 (Sawtooth) from a friend. I purchased a few parts, and upgraded the machine to Tiger because it originally ran OS 9. Thanks for watching.

Specs now:
450 mHz Power PC G4 (AGP Graphics)
768 MB of Ram
20 GB Hard drive
DVD and Zip Drive
OSX 10.4.11

Powermac G4 Upgrade
G4 Power Mac tower, can I upgrade the AGP graphics?

I recently bought a dual core 533 mhz G4 PowerMac tower and it has AGP for graphics and I was wondering if the graphics card were upgradagle in those type of computers?
I should have been more clear, I was wondering if I can upgrade the current AGP graphics card to a better AGP graphics card.

if your asking if you can upgrade it to a PCI-E no well not without replacing the motherboard which basically would be upgrading it but you might need a new CPU but i don’t know much about MACs but i do know you can’t change the adapter slots

READ ME FIRST: I put in a significant amount of resources upgrading a legacy Macintosh G4 System to make it an “FF-Class” G4 system.

A note to all – be careful how much money you invest into old, legacy system. Sometimes it is just not worth it. I do collect computers, and I like to extend their life and their usefulness.

How do I upgrade my G4 Powermac from 533 mhz to 2.0 ghz?

I just bought a G4 powermac, but I’m not familiar with Macs, only PCs. Can I upgrade my G4 533 mhz to at least a 1.25 ghz (for Final Cut Pro)? What parts should I get? Thanks a bunch.

You can’t just buy Mac G series processors like you can buy processors for PCs. That can’t be upgraded.

I have a iMac G4 power pc with mac os x 10.4.11is there any higher operating system?

Hello i have a 15″ iMac G4 power pc with 256mb of ram. I am currently running mac os X 10.4.11. Is this he highest operating system i can run on my mac or can i run 10.5 snow leopard? Im not sure. The mac mini i was using at work was running snow leopard so i wanted to know if i could also run it on this mac? It runs extremely slow so i am going to add 512mb of ram to the user friendly cpu slot to help speed it up! If not what are the requirements to run snow leopard? and can those requirements be upgraded on this mac?

You forgot to mention which iMac G4 (processor speed is the best determiner).

Minimum System Requirements for OS 10.5.x:
* Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
* 512MB of memory
* DVD drive for installation
* 9GB of available disk space
* Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
* Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees apply.

OS 10.6 requires Intel Mac, so you cannot use that.
